China Multispecialty Project

An Health For Humanity member teaches new orthopedic techniques to fellow orthopedic surgeons at YueYang's hospital.
Local Partner: Yueyang Municipal Government of Hunan Province, Yueyang Municipal Health Bureau, and the Yueyang Public Health School
Project Initiated: 1999
Project Goal: Support the Chinese government’s commitment to continuing medical education through lectures and clinical training experiences.

Project Summary: Health For Humanity members travel to China each year, visiting partnering hospitals to consult with Chinese colleagues about western and eastern approaches to medical care, to offer lectures and provide technical training. Health For Humanity activities are designed to support a new policy of the Chinese Ministry of Health to promote continuing education in a systematic manner.

Thus far, continuing medical education has been conducted in orthopedics, oral surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry. When possible, Chinese colleagues visit Health For Humanity volunteers in the United States to experience clinical medicine in the local hospitals and clinics.
