Internship Opportunities

Health for Humanity, a Baha’i inspired health development agency under the auspices of the NSA, offers summer and school-year internship opportunties for college and graduate level students interested in public health and health development. These internships are unpaid. Candidates for all HH internships should be at least 20 years old, self-directed, live in the Chicago area, and have their own transportation. Year of Service Opportunity at HH

Health for Humanity, a Baha’i inspired health development agency under the auspices of the NSA, is currently seeking a college graduate, with an interest in public health / social and economic development, to serve as a year-of-service intern at our office in Wilmette, Illinois.  To apply for the internship, please send HH (information@healthforhumanity.org) a copy of your resume/CV and a one-page personal statement describing your educational background, career goals, and how you feel serving with HH would assist you in reaching these goals.  This position could be either full (40 hours) or part time (20+ hours) a week.

  • Primary role of position: Assist the Programs Officer, who oversees HH’s international health development projects, to:
    • Recruit and prepare professional volunteers for service in the field
    • Access needed financial and materials resources (i.e. grant writing and access to medical equipment and supplies) for project implementation
    • Regularly review the status of HH’s projects to ensure that they are consistent with the mission, principles, policies, and guidelines of the institution.
  • Skills required: Completed their undergraduate degree, interested in non-profit organizations and public health issues, effective oral and written communication skills, able to follow directions and be self-motivated.
  • HH would provide the intern with a stipend in the amount of $500 per month during his/her internship.

Public Health Office Internship (HH Offices, Wilmette, Illinois) – up to 2 positions available
Position available as semester or year-long commitment

  • Primary role of position: nonprofit organizational assistant, as well as being responsible for general office support: phone, email, mailings, etc
  • Possible activities (depending on time commitment and office needs):
  • Responsible for researching and compiling volunteer orientation packet for domestic project sites
  • Responsible for supporting major fundraising activities and grant writing for projects
  • Responsible for Membership support, including responding to volunteer inquiries, and presenting an introduction to HH to area college clubs
  • Intern skills required: completed at least sophomore year of college (prefer undergraduate degree), interested in nonprofit organizations and public health issues, able to follow directions and be self-motivated.

    HH is not able to financially support the intern beyond $250 for travel to/from Chicago if needed; intern would be required to find funding for food and lodgings.
