Relationship to the Baha'i Faith
Health for Humanity is an international non-profit health development organization with projects both in the US and abroad. The central principles that guide Health for Humanity's developmental philosophy are inspired by the teachings of the Baha'i Faith, and include:
- Oneness of Humanity: Before we can make any progress to address the development challenges in our world, we have to first acknowledge that we are all members of one human family and that the welfare of each of us affects us all. In particular, we have to insure that HH projects and activities uphold the equality of women and men.
- Nobility of Humankind: People have an inherent capacity for nobility. The manifestation of that nobility depends upon education and service to humanity.
- Group Consultation: The most effective tool for uncovering the true problems and finding the best solutions in any given situation is group consultation. The effectiveness of this method
depends on frank, open, and unattached airing of all viewpoints until consensus is reached. Consultation is also a very effective method of documenting and sharing collective learning.
- Comprehensive Health: Emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical well-being are all required for an individual or community to be truly healthy.

Health for Humanity strives to build the capacity of local partners to improve the health of their populations, while providing opportunities for service for its volunteers. Health for Humanity members are from diverse ethnic, religious and professional backgrounds and membership is open to anyone interested in development under the Health for Humanity model.
While Health for Humanity is an independent non-governmental organization, and does not draw funding from any religious group, it is a Baha'i-inspired organization and therefore, naturally, often seeks advice from and collaboration with Baha’i institutions whose expertise on the Baha'i-inspired model of development has proven valuable during the organization's evolution.
